They mean the same thing. Both remove the pin from your board.
"Unsave" appears:
- Immediately after saving a pin
- For a few seconds only
- Allows quick undo
"Delete" appears:
- After the unsave window closes
- In the Edit Pin menu
- Same result as unsave
Important: Once deleted, pins cannot be recovered. They're permanently gone.
What Happens When You Delete a Pin?
If you saved someone else's pin:
- Removed from YOUR board only
- Still exists on Pinterest
- Original pin unaffected
- Other people's saves remain
If you created the pin yourself:
- Removed from your board
- Still exists on Pinterest if others repinned it
- Your original is deleted
- Repins by others stay active
Common Questions
Can I recover a deleted pin? No. Once deleted, it's permanently gone. Save important pins elsewhere before deleting.
Will deleting a pin notify anyone? No. Deletions are silent. No one is notified when you remove a pin from your board.
Can I delete pins from the "All Pins" view? No. You must go into the specific board to delete pins. Bulk delete only works within individual boards.
Why can't I delete some pins in a group board? You can only delete pins YOU added to a group board. Pins added by other collaborators can only be deleted by them or the board owner.
Is there a limit to how many pins I can delete? No official limit, but deleting hundreds at once might trigger Pinterest's spam filters temporarily.
Can I hide a pin instead of deleting it? Yes. Use the "Archive" feature instead. Go to Edit Pin → Archive. You can unarchive later if you change your mind.
How do I delete an entire board with all its pins? Go to the board → click the pencil icon → scroll down → click "Delete board." You have 7 days to restore it before permanent deletion. For step-by-step instructions, see our guide on how to delete a Pinterest board. If you've already deleted a board, you can recover it within 7 days using our recovery guide.
