How to Delete a Pinterest Pin (Single or Bulk)
Whether you're cleaning up old pins, removing outdated content, or reorganizing your boards, deleting Pinterest pins is straightforward - but there are a few important things to know first.
How to Delete a Single Pin
⚠️ Important: According to Pinterest's official Help Center, once a pin is deleted, it cannot be recovered.
Desktop:
- Log in to pinterest.com
- Click your profile picture (top right)
- Find the pin you want to delete
- Click the pin to open it
- Click the three dots (...) icon
- Select Edit Pin
- Click Delete (bottom left)
- Click Delete again to confirm
Mobile (iOS & Android):
- Open the Pinterest app
- Tap your profile picture (bottom right)
- Find the pin you want to delete
- Tap the pin to open it
- Tap the three dots (...) icon (top right)
- Tap the edit option
- Tap Delete this Pin or the trash icon (bottom of screen)
- Tap Delete to confirm
How to Delete Pins in Bulk
Pinterest only allows bulk deletion from individual boards - you cannot bulk delete from your "All Pins" page.
Limitations:
- Desktop/web browser only (not available on mobile app)
- Up to 50 pins at a time
- Must be on the same board
- Can only delete pins you created on group boards
Steps:
-
Go to your profile and open the board with pins to delete
-
Click Organize (below the board title)
- Alternative: Click "Move pins" button next to the + icon
-
Click each pin you want to delete
- A checkmark appears in the corner when selected
- Click again to deselect
- Use "Select all" to choose all visible pins
-
Click the trash icon at the bottom center
-
Click Delete to confirm
Tip: Delete 2-3 pins per day if cleaning up large boards. Deleting hundreds at once may trigger Pinterest's spam filters.
What Happens When You Delete a Pin
If You Created the Pin:
- Deleted from Pinterest entirely for everyone
- Removed from all your boards
- Other people's repins remain (but lose link to your account)
- Image removed from your profile permanently
- Original website content stays intact
If You Saved Someone Else's Pin:
- Only removed from your board
- Pin still exists on Pinterest
- Original creator's pin unaffected
- Other savers still have it
Note: "Unsave" and "delete" mean the same thing for pins you've saved from others. For step-by-step instructions on unsaving pins, see our guide on how to unsave pins on Pinterest.
Can You Edit a Pin Instead?
Before deleting, consider editing. You can change:
- Title
- Description
- Link
- Board location
- Comment settings
What you cannot edit:
- Image or video content (must create new pin)
- Audio content
To edit: Open pin → Three dots (...) → Edit Pin → Save changes
Deleting Underperforming Pins
Many Pinterest marketers delete low-performing pins to improve overall account metrics. However, consider this before bulk deleting:
Before removing underperforming content, make sure you're following Pinterest best practices. For comprehensive optimization strategies, see our Pinterest tips and tricks guide.
Think twice about deleting:
- Pins from your own website (shows lower repin counts to others)
- Pins with existing engagement
- Pins with strong SEO value
Good candidates for deletion:
- Duplicate pins
- Broken or expired links
- Outdated seasonal content (old promotions, expired sales)
- Pins violating Pinterest guidelines
- Low-quality images that don't match your brand
Common Questions
Can I recover a deleted pin? No. Pinterest states that once a pin is deleted, it cannot be recovered. There's no "Recently Deleted" folder like Instagram or other platforms. Make sure before you delete. However, if you accidentally deleted an entire board, you have 7 days to recover it - see our guide on how to recover deleted Pinterest boards. For instructions on deleting boards, see our guide on how to delete a Pinterest board.
Will deleting a pin affect my Pinterest SEO? Possibly. If the pin was well-optimized and getting engagement, removing it can hurt your reach. Pinterest needs data to understand your interests and show content to the right audience. Consider editing instead of deleting.
Can I bulk delete pins from multiple boards at once? No. You can only bulk delete pins from one board at a time using the "Organize" feature. To delete pins across multiple boards, you'll need to visit each board separately.
What happens to comments on a deleted pin? All comments, likes, and engagement metrics are permanently deleted along with the pin.
Can I delete other people's pins from my group board? Only if you're the board owner. To bulk remove other people's pins from your group board, you'd need to block the contributors (which removes all their pins), then unblock them afterward. Individual pins can be deleted one by one.
How many pins can I delete at once? Pinterest allows up to 50 pins per bulk deletion. If you need to delete more, repeat the process in batches of 50.
Is there a faster way to mass delete pins? Third-party tools like Redact.dev offer advanced bulk deletion with filters (by date, keyword, domain, board performance), but these typically require paid subscriptions. Pinterest's native tool is free but limited to 50 pins at a time per board.
Will Pinterest suspend my account for deleting too many pins? Deleting hundreds or thousands of pins in a short period may trigger spam detection. Spread deletions over several days (2-3 pins per day for cleanup, or batches of 50 with breaks).
Alternatives to Deleting Pins
Archive the board instead:
- Keeps pins but hides the board from your profile
- Can be unarchived anytime
- Go to board → Three dots (...) → Archive board
Move pins to a secret board:
- Pins stay saved but aren't public
- Create or use existing secret board
- Select pins → Move → Choose secret board
Hide pins from your home feed:
- Only affects what you see, doesn't delete
- Three dots on pin → Hide Pin
Should You Delete or Keep?
Delete if:
- Broken or dead links
- Duplicate content
- Outdated promotions/seasonal content
- Violates Pinterest policies
- Doesn't match your current brand
Keep/Edit if:
- Good engagement metrics
- Pins from your own website
- Strong Pinterest SEO value
- Evergreen content
- Just needs updated description or link
