Ways to live more analog this fall... Lately, I’ve noticed more people reaching for the tangible again: real books, handwritten lists, ticket stubs, film cameras. It feels like we’re remembering what it means to move through the world without documenting every second of it. Analog isn’t just vintage; it’s the opposite of instant. It’s slower, imperfect, and deeply human. It’s the sound of a record instead of a playlist, a real photo you can hold instead of a digital blur, a story that unfolds on paper instead of behind glass. But if I’m honest, this isn’t easy for me either. Running a small business means social media is part of my daily life. It’s how people find the shop, how our community grows, how stories spread. It’s also how I burn out, scrolling more than I read, performing more than I rest. Some days I crave the quiet so much I want to throw my phone in a drawer and live like it’s 1998. I actually am considering getting one of those Bluetooth home phones that you can connect your cell phone to. So I’m learning to find balance. To build something beautiful online without losing the peace of the offline world that inspired it. To remember that connection doesn’t have to mean connectivity. Lately, that looks like going on walks without headphones. Being creative just for myself. Keeping tech out of the bedroom and not doomscrolling the second I wake up. Joining a club where conversations don’t need captions. And always, ending the day with a book in my hands. It’s not about rejecting technology. It’s about choosing how much of myself I give to it. Also, I’m not saying to completely give up your kindle if that’s how you consume content! Technology helps so many people who don’t have access that others might. But I think we can all slow down a bit and appreciate the turn of a page, the flicker of a candle, and the quiet satisfaction of living a life that doesn’t need to be posted.
